Covid-19 testing rules for arriving international passengers

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has set up a COVID-19 testing facility in the multi-level car park of its Terminal 3 for arriving international passengers who need to catch connecting domestic flights, it said. said in a statement Friday.

The Civil Aviation Ministry had said on Wednesday that international passengers who need to catch connecting domestic flights after landing in India will have the option of getting tested for COVID-19 at airports of entry.

  • DIAL has collaborated with Genestrings Diagnostic Center, a Delhi-based laboratory, and the testing facility will become operational from mid-September.
  • If the RT-PCR test result is negative, the international passenger will be allowed to board their connecting domestic flight and they will not need to undergo institutional quarantine, according to the ministry’s order.
  • Results of samples taken at the laboratory will be reported within 4-6 hours to incoming passengers. Until the results are confirmed, passengers will be isolated in the waiting room or can choose to stay in a hotel.
  • An international passenger who does not have a negative COVID result certificate from a test taken no more than 96 hours prior to travel, and who does not opt ​​for an on-arrival testing facility at the airport of entry , will be required to undergo a seven-day institutional quarantine followed by a seven-day home quarantine.
  • On August 2, the Union Health Ministry said that if an international passenger tested negative on an RT-PCR test taken 96 hours before travel, they would not need to undergo institutional quarantine. in India.
