Absences related to the NHL COVID protocol: 03/21/21

Each day, the NHL will publicly publish the list of players who are not available for their respective teams due to the COVID-19 protocol. Here is the full and updated list for Sunday:

Boston – Sean kuraly, Jake DeBrusk, David Krejci, David Pastrnak, Craig smith
New York Islanders – Noah Dobson
New York Rangers – Phil Di Giuseppe (as well as their team of coaches)
Saint Louis – Zach Sanford

As a reminder, inclusion on this list does not mean that a player has tested positive for coronavirus or even that it has been confirmed as close contact with another positive person. The NHL’s list of possible reasons someone is on the list are as follows:

(1) an initial positive test which is not confirmed until the confirmatory test is completed according to the positive test protocol; (2) compulsory isolation for symptomatic persons according to the positive test protocol; (3) mandatory quarantine as a high risk close contact according to the positive testing protocol; (4) isolation on the basis of a confirmed positive test result and / or; (5) quarantine for travel or other reasons, as outlined in the COVID-19 protocol

Players withdrawn on Sunday: Alexandre texier, Columbus

It’s certainly encouraging that there haven’t been any new additions to the roster from Boston – given the Bruins’ recent outbreak – or anywhere else in the league. Things went in the right direction on Sunday with the activation of Texier and immediately sent to the taxi team, a decision that could be more procedural than anything else since the youngster only missed two games while being in the protocols.
